About Liberty Fitness
Liberty Harper is no ordinary franchisor. Having worked for years in fitness centers throughout San Diego, Liberty saw the rise of the thirty minute fitness phenomenon and recognized its potential in the rapidly developing fitness industry. However, the various chains that emerged didn't demonstrate the level of quality or consistency that Liberty felt was necessary to make the workout a success. She could relate to women who had faced challenges with their exercise lifestyle and self image. After a personal battle with anorexia, Liberty found that women needed a safe haven where the combination of cardiovascular exercise and adjustable strength training would provide women with the health goals they aspired to. Together with the help of her family, Liberty developed a new and inspiring concept in thirty minute fitness, drawing from her experiences as a woman in fitness. The first Liberty Fitness was opened in 2001, a thirty minute women's fitness club that would grow to be a top competitor in the women's fitness industry.
Liberty helped approximately 50 franchises get on their feet over the course of two years. In early 2004, the Harper Family decided to take their business to the next level and a partnership with Concentric Equity Partners was made.
Concentric Equity Partners found the opportunity equally appealing. Supported by direct investments from companies such as The ServiceMaster Company and over 40 individual operating executives from service related industries, Concentric helps portfolio companies accelerate their growth through capital investment, industry knowledge, operating expertise, and access to expanded channels for distribution. The fund's investment and operating focus is exclusively in service and related businesses. Dan Kotynski and Ken Hooten (managing partners) aligned themselves with Liberty Fitness to accelerate their growth through capital investment.
In May 2005, Linda Burzynski became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Liberty Fitness Holdings, LLC. Prior to accepting the position with Liberty Fitness, Ms. Burzynski was the CEO of CM IT Solutions from August of 2000 until 2005. She led CM IT Solutions expansion in 30 states, with over 120 franchises providing outsourced IT solutions to businesses. Ms. Burzynski also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Molly Maid, Inc.. Prior to this time, she served ten years as Senior Vice President of Operations for Decorating Den Systems.
